Arthur Stephenson [Stephenson & Meldrum] Newspaper House 1933 Former Newspaper House (247-249 Collins Street, Melbourne).Previously a Renaissance Revival warehouse, Stephenson & Meldrum won the competition to remodel the façade for Sir Keith Murdoch (magazine & newspaper editor and father of Rupert Murdoch). Of special interest is the very moderne mosaic mural by Napier Waller. The ambitious text on the mural "I'll put a girdle around the Earth" was prophetic of young Rupert's later achievements.
