The team which won the competition and which carried out the commission was Kevin Borland, Peter McIntyre, John & Phyllis Murphy and the engineer W. Irwin. Robin Boyd who was a member of the judging panel described this event as the "first fairy story of Australian building" but was, not unexpectedly privately envious of his young friends "here I am again as the publicizer, the urger, the promoter of others and still no bloody building for me" [Serle , G., 'Robin Boyd, A Life' p148]
